How many times do we look at someone’s situation and we judge them based on what we see or what they do? Or how quick are we as a Christian to condemn someone to hell for being homosexual, but we are participating in pre-marital sex? Or, what about that little white lie that we told so that we did not hurt someone’s feelings? How about when you eat yet another piece of cake, but you were full 3 slices ago? Oh, or what about that “turn up” that got too real, and you not only drank too much, but you also began to lust after those around you?
So, are any of these sins any better or worse than another? Of course not, a sin, is a sin, is a sin! Yet, we all do it!!! Point blank, we ALL sin and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)! Though scripture tells us that all men are sinners, it does not excuse the fact that God hates sin. God gives us free will, he gives us the choice to do right or wrong, but when we choose sinful activity, not only do we fall out of alignment to His will, but ultimately, we turn our back to Him. The Bible tells us in Romans 6:23 that the wages of sin is death, and the gift of life is through Christ Jesus.
God gave us life when he gave his son Jesus Christ to die for our shortcomings. The work at Calvary’s Cross not only gave us life, but Jesus died so that we can have an AMAZING life. A life filled with joy, peace, love, happiness, freedom, forgiveness, etc. However, Christ did not die for us to continue to sin over and simply ask for forgiveness.
Once we have accepted Christ as our Lord and savior, we have to do better, because we know better. It is our goal as a Christian to be Christ-like. We should emulate a man that NEVER sinned, a man that gave his perfect life for the life of unworthy sinners. This is very much so a hard task, but the way our God is set up, he gives us ABSOLUTLY everything we need to live according to His will. He gives us people that will lead and teach us the ways of Christ, he gives us a “gut feeling”/intuition that should lead us to or from a situation, he gives us confirmation through things we see and hear, along with a host of other things, He gives us his word.
The Bible is a tool for every sinner! It is a step by step manual with stories and instruction that will lead us down a path of holiness and righteousness. Yes, we all sin, and God offers us forgiveness, but we have to be GREAT in all that we do and WANT to live in the will of God. We, were created with a purpose, and a divine standard, and to receive all the great things that Christ has for us, we have to avoid sin and pursue holiness.
Let today be your day to choose Christ and flee from sin! We all do it, but God has called us to greater things in him! Let us pray (this prayer is from you to God):
Lord, first I just want to say thank you. Thank you for this day, this life, thank you for your son Jesus and his work at the cross!!! Thank you for being so amazing and picking me up when I fall short. Lord thank you for meeting me where I am. Lord I am coming to you now to ask you to forgive me for my sins. You know where I fall short, you know my pitfalls, you know my stumbling blocks, and I just ask you to correct my footsteps and guide me down a path of holiness. Lord I love you and I just want to serve you and walk within my purpose and live my life according to you will. Lord I love you and I praise you for being so amazing in my life. I thank you for loving me in spite of. I thank you for the times that you were there even when no one else was. I just say thank you Lord. You’ve been too good to me. I know I will fail you again, but God I just pray that you will continue to keep me under our wing and in your hand. I love you Lord and praise you for the mighty things you can and will do in my life from this day forward. I say this prayer in Jesus name I pray. Amen and Praise God.
