What Are You Thankful For?

Every year at Thanksgiving my mom goes around the table asking what we are thankful for. We each give this quick what we are thankful for sentence, and boom, weve gone around the table and we are ready to eat. About 20 or so years ago, while going around the table, my brother said “I’m thankful for my sins”… back then I laughed at the kid, but tonight, I realize there is so much power in that statement.

Being thankful for my sins, doesn’t make much sense, but hear me out… My sins kept me in a dark place, but redemption brought me into His light. My sins almost got me killed, but His love got me to safety. My sins had me in a domestic violence situation, but his Grace allowed me to leave unharmed.

Tonight in my prayer time, I had a hard time praying.  Not because I didn’t want to talk to the Lord, but rather because my heart continued to say thank you.  Well actually I continued to sing “thank you Lord for all you’ve done for me”… I was in my moment of prayer and thanksgiving just praising God for keeping me in the midst of my mess. I sang over and over again thank you Lord for all you’ve done for me!

I write this today with such a thankful heart. Thankful for my sins! Those sins that showed me the true love of God. Those sins that protected me in the darkest moments of my life. Those sins that that’s could have had me dead. I’m thankful for my sins, because without the lessons that came with the sin, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

So I ask you, what are you thankful for? What can can you praise God for? What has He brought you through that you never saw your way out of? What sin are/were you bound to that is/was keeping you from your promise?

Let’s not just be thankful when we are ready to eat on Thanksgiving, but rather find things everyday in which we can thank God for!

Thus, today, I’m thankful for my sins!! Love you guys, and I’m praying for you! – Elle Breeze
